Freidkin has lost his mind,
This review is from: The French Connection [Blu-ray] [Region Free] (Blu-ray)
Does he really think this is the best way to view this movie. Even the 27 year old Magnetic VHS copy i still have of this film is of better "quality". The director of photography was correct in saying this BLU-RAY is not the film he shot. This blu-ray version is fuzzy and dark and really hard on the eyes. Save your money and buy the DVD produced a few years ago, as its prefectly acceptable.

Yeah I've heard some really bad stuff about the blu ray print.

Fox have finally remastered this in the States in a transfer approved by Roizman with Friedkin's involvement. At present it's a US Best Buy exclusive, but apparently it looks the way it should this time.
