This review is from: Under Heaven (Kindle Edition)
I'm a big fan of GGK; he is one of the very few 'grown up' writers of fantastic fiction and one of the few who can generate genuine emotion. By grown up, I mean that he deals with convincing adult themes and relationships, rather than that he is part of the gritty fantasy sub-genre that I am already way over. There is also a depth of scholarship to his work.
Under Heaven is his Tang dynasty novel and it is one of his best. Similar in some ways to the Sarantine Mosaic (but better). Well written - he has come a long long way from the clunky prose of the Fionavar Tapestry.
