This review is from: Everbuild 500WH Bath and Sanitary Silicone Sealant 500 310 ml - White (DIY & Tools)
My shower was new 15 months ago and the expensive, glossy sealant I used at that time had already blackened in places and come unstuck. I decided that it was probably a job which was best re-done every year. I wanted to be able to re-seal the shower cubicle in the morning and use the shower in the early evening. After being frustrated by the number of identical products in different guises, all of which bore instructions such as "leave for 24 to 48 hours before exposing to water", I at last found this quick-setting silicone. The supplier doesn't specify the actual setting time so I experimented by leaving a sample of the squidge on a tissue in the shower cubicle one morning. It was firm and rubbery in less than nine hours, so was suitable for my purpose. When I did the job next day, I found that the material seemed to be easier to apply than was my experience with these sealants. I didn't get it everywhere and all over myself as usually happens. Possibly I was just having a good day, but the consistency of the sealant seemed to make it more manageable. The finish is not highly glossy, more like a satin surface, but I like it. So I'm very pleased with the results so far and I've used it for another job since, sealing a new plastic window cill, which being close to a cold window also benefited from the fast-setting nature of the sealant. I should mention that there is quite a strong pong for a couple of hours until the stuff dries but it was not a problem for me. I think that the suppliers should make more of the fact that this IS quick-drying, because in the areas in which it is used, this is usually important.
