Don't be put off...,
This review is from: Demon Ororon, The Volume 1: v. 1 (Paperback)
I read a lot of manga and so was very surprised when I saw that this series had a bad review, as it is undoubtedly one of my favourite mangas, and is definitely one of the best out there. I was outraged enough to write my first ever review (in its defence), and, as I am a lazy person, that really means something!
Yes, the concept of the manga is unoriginal, but it is handled in a way far superior to any other mangas I have read tackling similar subject matter. The artwork is fantastic (I love Hakase's style) and the characters and plot have real depth to them. It stays with you after reading and is surprisingly philosophical at points, questioning existence etc; so unlike much of the mindless rubbish that plagues the manga market. It is also a short series (4 volumes in total) which I like because with many manga series the books go on forever with no foreseeable end (e.g Naruto).
My only warning would be that it is not a happy tale, and so if you're looking for light hearted go somewhere else. That being said, Hakase often manages to bring in a comedy moment during the darkest of scenes.
All in all, I LOVE IT. And you should too. Don't be put off by the bad review, its great, and well worth buying!
