Eoin Colfer's first adult novel presents us with the story of a bouncer who is thrust into a tale of murder and mysterious disappearances. The main character is likeable enough, who has at times rather amusing conversations in his head with a man called Zeb. The story contains a fair amount of action, though can drag at times. The book never really gripped me, much like the latter books in the Artemis Fowl series (of which I only truly enjoyed the first 3) and others by Colfer (such as Airman) all of which I found rather lacklustre.
In short, this is a decent book, however I doubt people will seek to reread it, and it will ultimately be forgettable.
