fascinating and thought-provoking,
This review is from: The Celibate (Paperback)
Fascinating on all sorts of levels, this novel traces the life of a young ordinand trhough his discussions with a therapist. Each chapter in the first half of the book is prefaced with excerpts from a guided walk about Jack the Ripper. As the walk gets gorier, so does his life.
I won't spoil it by saying what happens in the second half - and the different walk that starts each chapter - but suffice to say that the tone of his coversation with the therapist changes from one of paranoia anad defensiveness to one of exploration and self understanding.
Ther is much about both sprituality and sewxuality that is very thoguht-provoking, and I found the characterisations convincing. A very satisfying read!
