Budapest off the beaten track,
This review is from: Only in Budapest: A Guide to Hidden Corners, Little-known Places and Unusual Objects (Paperback)
Getting off-the-beaten track in a major capital city can be a difficult thing, but Duncan Smith's "Only in Budapest" helped me to do exactly that. A sequel to his equally fascinating "Only in Vienna", which I also enjoyed reading, I would heartily recommend this new guide to independent and adventurous travellers wishing to really explore the Hungarian capital. The book focusses on the city's less well-known locations, for example Turkish tombs, hidden caves, secret courtyards, unusual museums, and forgotten cemeteries. And it's extremely well illustrated too, with good colour photographs. I recommend "Only in Budapest", not only as a practical guide but also as an interesting book to read at home.
