Customer Review

4 of 5 people found the following review helpful
2.0 out of 5 stars A lot of work, but ..., 3 Dec. 2011
This review is from: America - The Story of the US [Blu-ray] [Region Free] (Blu-ray)
I join myself to the negative comments expressed by other reviewers, but I must also add that I found the sub-titles showing repeatedly in the same chapter the names of present day people who appeared, very irritating. I also found the "5 steps forward - 1 step backward" technique very irritating; people with normal intelligence don't need to be reminded of what they saw and heard two minutes earlier !

"5 steps forward - 1 step backward" - Excellent phrase for what I was looking for the other day. The History channel "How the Earth Was Made" is exactly this. Whilst it is a very good show, it pains me to keep seeing repeated clips, recaps of something I just that second watched and the worse "coming up next". I think it is as a result of the breaks in broadcast and people tuning in mid-show. They should edit them out when producing a DVD.

I fancy the idea of this show, but if it contains the above then I will give it a miss

this 5 steps forwar one step back is because this was a cable network show that uses commercials as funding,.hence there are comercials in it.each episode was played 1 week at a time ,hence the need to backtrack a bit to rewind viewers to not get lost after a week.it may be harder to watch when watched at 1 showing, butits hard to focus on little details and what to include and not include will always make argument.its actually a good concept and should have been a massive project as it would have been an amazing tv series, but budgets and $ make the world go around
