This review is from: The Secret Life of a Slummy Mummy (Paperback)
Well there are a few one and two star reviews complaining that the descriptions are too long, the vocabulary too hard, and the author expects an unreasonable level of general knowledge (for example who Tracy Emin is and what she is famous for). But from my point of view that is all part of the attraction of the book. As someone else has said it goes far beyond the average throwaway chicklit genre and could perhaps be called literature. If not, it is at least very literate and beautifully written. Then there's the story itself, crafted cleverly, funny and in the end unashamedly positive.
If you want something that challenges you, but is still a story that you can identify with and which will make you laugh, then this book fits the bill. Thoroughly enjoyable!
