1.0 out of 5 stars Dissapointing, 23 Mar. 2005
This review is from: Atari Retro Classics (Nintendo DS) (Video Game)
Before I start, I should explain that I am a keen retro gamer, and usually I like nothing more than to play the hits from yesteryear, like smash tv, paperboy, breakout, gauntlet, amidar and a host of other classics. However, no matter how much you like retro games I urge you not to buy this poor excuse for software.
This title seeminly came from nowhere on the day that the ds launched in Britain, and after playing it, I can understand why it came out with minimum fanfare.
The game splits each of the titles within into two variations: retro and new 'tag' style. The tag style basicly tarts up the graphics and changes the style into something more 'street'.
Even when played in the retro graphic style, the games such as asteroids, centipede, pong, and breakout are like pale imitations of the splendid versions available on the atari 2600. When the new abstract modes are on it renders many of the games as totally unplayable.
I did not buy a cutting edge ds to play this turgid tripe, and I suspect you did not either.

Harsh.

But useful - I was thinking of this for my son, won't be buying it now. Cheers.
