Messy compilation - and still no Dreamworld :-(,
This review is from: The Very Best Of Go West (Audio CD)
30 odd songs for less than a fiver, how can anyone complain? Well...it's all down to the songs (or versions of the songs) that have been selected. For example, the live version of The King Is Dead - from the 12" version of that single, and which completely smokes the album cut - has been left out in favour of, well, the album cut. Similarly, the absolutely fantastic Total Overhang 12" mix of We Close Our Eyes (featuring a sublime guitar solo from the late, great Alan Murphy) has been passed over in favour of the much weaker - but I suppose a bit more danceable - Total Overhang Club Mix...
But where the compiler has really let the side down is by failing to include - again - the rare B-side Dreamworld. As far as I'm aware this song has never been available on CD - and its inclusion would have made the purchase of this CD a no-brainer. Maybe the tapes are lost? Or maybe they're holding it back for a deluxe edition of the debut LP?
If it's the latter, I'll happily suggest a track listing for them :-)

Also the worthy "Let's Build A Boat" has been left off. Maybe I could get hired to replace the person who compiled this?

Would have been great also if they had included "Don't be afraid of your dreams" from Nightmare on Elm St 4.

If anyone cares the version of "call me" on this greatest hits,is sadly the album version and not the very hard to find "call me - 7 '' mix/video mix, maybe someday we will see it appear on a deluxe 2 Cd "go west" of their first album
