ONE OF THE BEST READS ON FOOTBALL,
This review is from: Football Nation: Sixty Years of the Beautiful Game (Paperback)
This was an excellent book. Set out really as a collection of essays on the game of football in all its aspects from the 1950' to the noughties. It covers all the aspects of football that are interesting to know. It is written with intelligence and thought, and backed up with statistics, though not at the loss of an enjoyable read. It gives some interesting viewpoints, and allows older readers a little trip down memory lane to the 'good old days' though wonders now whether they were so good. Football nowadays is an enjoyable experience, and safe which at times in the past it has most definitely not been.
A bok that all football lovers should read whether you are a fervent fan of a club, an armchair/pub spectator or just a general student of the game who is interested in its development, and its gradual catching up with the changing attitudes of the general population.
