5.0 out of 5 stars As far as torches go ... ..., 16 Jan. 2009
Well this is a Maglite, you can't go past them. Bright piercing beam when it's focussed. The flood is good too but I rarely use it. I wouldn't have anything else.

There are plenty of great products out there; why restrict yourself to this one? Not that this Maglite is bad; but for the same price these days you can get LED ones with far superior flood and spot lumens, smaller, lighter (4AA batteries) and yet retaining build quality and robustness such as this Maglite.

When you trust the brand for so many years, when a brand hasn't failed you not once, why fix something that ain't broken?

I also am a big fan of Maglite. Build quality and performance is just fantastic. The quality of a flashlight is not measured by how much brighter other led's are.

Theres lots of technically advanced torches out there. I've tried several including LED Lenser, Inova and Fenix. Yet I always come back to Maglite. Still for me the best and most durable brand.

Maglite is only still in existence because of people like you, get yourself a real torch for once in your life. This torch is 134 lumens, you can get a 1 battery AA torch with over double the lumens like zebralight sc52 that's about the size of your thumb. The nitecore EA8 is about the same size as this Maglite it runs on 8 AA batterys but is 900 lumen's, zebralight sc600 mk2 1100 lumen's, Thrunite TK31 latest version 1473 lumen's. In fact you can get a keychain torch more powerfull than this Maglite, the olight i3s on 10440 lithium battery is 170 lumens. All these torches are 10x the quality of the Maglite too
