This review is from: Brixton Beach (Paperback)
I picked this up to read over the snowy Christmas holidays, and felt like I really had to steel myself to keep going with it. I do agree with other reviewers that it was beautifully written, but I didn't like any of the characters other than Bee, the grandfather, and I felt like it was really slow. I think my expectations of the book were wrong, and I anticipated there being more emphasis on the different culture Alice experienced in London - a bit more like Brick Lane, for example.
