Not bad, but ruined by some truly hideous characters! ***Spoilers too!***,

I think the characters of Loz and Auntie Jeanie are the worst characters that I have read abount in a long while. Almost to the point where I am tempted to drop it down to two stars. Loz does redeem herself slightly towards the end though.
Loz is so bossy and pushy that I don't know how we are expected to believe that she loves Peg. She's so rude and undermining towards her that I don't understand why Peg put up with her. But then Peg was such a drip that she was irritating too. I don't understand how she could forget the first 10 years of her life and be so blase about it. It doesn't make sense that she goes to such lengths now when she wasn't bothered before.
Auntie jeanie was just a terrible character. There was no need for her to be so fat, greedy and bed bound. The dependance on the mother could have been done in a much more clever and subtle way. She doesn't come across as caring towards her neice even though it was all "done for love".
I didn't care enough about the characters to wonder who the murderer was or what the so called suspense was leading towards. I found the reveal to be quite farcical and not all that believable.
I do still keep it at 3 stars though as I read it all the way through, so I can't have hated it that much and it filled up an afternoon.
