This review is from: The Unfeathered Bird (Hardcover)
The first line of the introduction says it all - 'This is not an anatomy of birds'. The diagrams are exquisite but not labelled so the lay person gets little information from them. There is little text and what there is is shallow with no depth of explanation - I kept wanting more. Although clearly a labour of love it covers too wide a field - I would love a book like this limited to one genre, say birds of prey etc but in much more detail.
Don't want to appear too disparaging because for all that I'm glad I have it in my bookcase but, if I had been able to see inside the book I probably would not have purchased - but then I have many books on specific birds and have studied in the animal field so probably expected too much.
