Excellent film although some inaccuracies,
This review is from: Valkyrie [Blu-ray] (Blu-ray)
A very good film with a few minor inaccuracies. The general at the start of the film was probably supposed to be Rommel but of course Rommel wasn't killed during the war as portrayed in the film (committed suicide in October 1944), General Fromm didn't wear his Knight's Cross in the film which he won in 1940, a general wearing a Knights Cross and Pour le merite bursts in the office of Stauffenberg near the end of the film and asks where is General Fromm, general didn't exist and this didn't happen, it added nothing to the film and I wonder why the film makers bothered with it. The scene in the Berghof bothered me and I'm not sure why, I thought the graphics were excellent it looked real from the outside but although I'm told it looked accurate inside, the fact that Goebbels, Goering, Himmler and Speer were all sitting together bothered me somewhat. Goering by that time was pretty much hated by all of those present and wasn't really in Hitlers favour after the Stalingrad affair, and Speer didn't like Himmler at all. I did think the portrayal of General Olbricht and Major Remer were excellent. I went to see this film at the cinema and expected to watch utter rubbish but no I felt it was really well done. I've seen more accurate films hsitorically speaking but I still give it 4 stars.
