What a load of rubbish,

This review is from: Robin Hood - Extended Director's Cut [DVD] (DVD)I actually preferred the Costner version - and that comment amazes me.
What is the problem with these film writers/producers.
They have to have a woman fighting in armour - that would never happen and if tried would have resulted in her immediate slaughter. She wouldn't stand a chance against professional men-at-arms.
They mess up all the accents - what is an Irish orphan doing in Sherwood? Why do people seem to change their accent throughout the movie? I don't think I heard a single authentic English regional accent from any major actor in that movie. Why the Irish music in an English medieval village?
Why has Dungeness now got cliffs? Why did the French invasion resemble "The longest day"/"Saving private Ryan" - complete with WW2 style landing craft and drowning scenes?
And whats all the crap about Robin Longstride and his "prophetic" father? All that democracy rubbish? When did the barons care about the peasant class and "equality"?
Oh, and yes, the obligatory cultural cringe to Muslims about the "evil Crusades" and, yes, Richard Cour de Lion never did speak English - he spoke only French (despite being born in Oxford) and was from the French speaking Plantagenet dynasty.
If anyone wants to see some good Robin Hood then get the compilation of the HTV series from the 80's.

:) to the private ryan reference. I too felt it looked rather like that. Thinking about it I wonder if they just put a wooden veneer on the wwii craft.
