Not altogether bad,

This review is from: Sepulchre (Paperback)
I have now read both Labyrinth and Sepulchre. In each case I enjoyed the story, helped by the fact that I live in the region and have been interested in the Cathares for many years, BUT, although the author praises her editors among others, both books suffer from irritating errors that give the impression that they were not reviewed sufficiently carefully before being rushed into publication. There are many petty instances but they are all sufficient to bring one to a halt and say " why the hell couldn't an editor get that right, even if not the author'! A very simple example is a comment on Meredith and Hal going to bed in linen sheets which become cotton three or four pages later. The second adjective was not needed anyway. The various horse-drawn transport goes under different names for the same vehicle but ALL of them make the same sounds and their carriage lamps 'bang' in the same way. I have doubts about that particular effect. Just to finish, a storm that causes an obstruction to the Mail Coach north of Limoux really cannot be taken seriously when we know, in some detail, that there is a railway connection from Carcassonne to Couiza and beyond.
I hope Mosse will write more in the same vein but I do hope she will revise more and her editors will be more effective.
