Nice book but problems with colours,
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
This review is from: Painting with Pastels (Pastels Tips and Techniques) (Paperback)
Had a dabble with pastels last year painting still life and such. I thought I would push the boat out and go for landscapes.
I really like this book as it is well set out and with some beautiful images that you feel you could replicate and learn at the same time. There are instructions of how to achieve this doing it step by step. I have purchased Koh-I-Noor 48 pastels and pencils of well respected quality. It all goes pear shaped when you read the list of colours that are required hardly any of which are in the set that I have. You need pale purple grey/ dark purple grey/ blue grey/ green grey/ grey-grey and never ending colours of grey tinted with dark purple grey. The list seems endless however there is a solution I could dump all my pastels in the bin and lay out loads of dosh and get Unison pastels coupled with artists sandpaper that you need to achieve these results or else ignor this book and go back to painting pieces of fruit. Groan.
