What is this book about?,
This review is from: On Writing (Paperback)
I know this is an obvious title, but I have to add it to this review. What is this book about? It is from a great Author so it carries weight there. It reads like a memo and a little like an autobiography but it is neither. It helps a little in understanding the history of the author but as a writer's aid, I just dont see it. Maybe the idea of the book is supposed to come to me some time later after reading it, something like Mr King's other works, but for help in developing characters and assisting other writers, it falls short of the objective as Mr King concentrates on his own influences and what makes him a great writer. You could argue that this is the point? So it is an ok buy but the focus of the book seems to be on the author himself rather than on assisting others. For that reason, though I would be an fan of Stephen King's fiction, I am disappointed in this book as I feel, it falls between the cracks of his objective.
