Although this book has the intriguing concept of a Victorian lady with a scandalous alter ego and a connection with a world far removed from drawing room chit-chat, and a young lady saved from a black hearted rogue, I found the characters depressingly one-dimensional.
Even the despatching of the villain at the end of the book lacked even the gore that Victorian/Edwardian authors would have given it.
Not a bad book, but not that good.
