The one to buy!,
This review is from: Using FileMaker 7 (Paperback)
I started with Omnis 3 many years ago because it was the only available cross-platform (Mac/Windows) relational database for ordinary mortals. I stuck with Omnis (and its descendants) because of the huge learning curve involved in moving to alternative programs, but have finally made the change to Filemaker 7 because of its ease of use and because of this book, which is a perfect complement to the program.
'Using Filemaker 7' is absolutely the book to buy to learn how to get started and how to get the most out of Filemaker - it's comprehensive, well written, well laid out and has excellent real-world examples. Just as important is the quality of the index, which is vital for a reference book of this length and scope. I also bought "Learn Filemaker Pro 7'; it's a shorter book which works well as a step-by-step recipe-type work for beginners, but of the two 'Using Filemaker' is the better for dealing with problems and difficulties. Highly recommended.
