Complete and utter disppointment,
This review is from: The King of Plagues (Paperback)Not to go into it too much but quite simply....nothing happens. That is the fundamental problem with this book. You get through the first 200 pages before there's even a fight. I was impressed with Patient Zero, which had a perfect balance of action and pace. The Dragon Factory, whilst not as good, was OK in at least it delivered more of Ledger and the DMS doing their thing.
The King of Plagues is a very tedious read. The story constantly jumps from present day DMS goings-on to the Kings' backstory and this time around it doesn't work - the relentless cliffhanger pacing of Patient Zero is nowhere to be found here, instead you're constantly going two steps back which makes the 'plot' (if there is one) confusing and irritating to follow.
By the time I had reached the 'climax' I was past caring. Lacklustre, annoying, BORING, disappointing, plodding. I really wouldn't bother.
