Ok admittedly the graphics were amazing the actors were great the setting perfect but i was still dissapointed. Why? Because for me the film is supposed to be reflection of what the books were about and ,unlike the first film which despite a couple of omissions was excellent, did not follow the book by J.R.R Tolkien well at all. A few examples: Faramir is supposed to stand for everything good in humans.Where his brother failed and could not resist the lure of the ring Faramir resists temptation and does'nt take Frodo off on some little journey to Osgiliath. At the battle of helms Deep 500 elves do not all of a suuden decide to arrive and aid the people of Rohan. The Ents do not say no about going to war but rather spend a long time decided but neverthless say yes.You may think that these examples are only minor and generally unimportant and others will say that the film need'nt be the representation of the book but i disagree. The Fact that a load of elves come to the rescue is absurd. As is said in the first film "the elves are leaving these shores" and as such do not play a major role in the books at all (the exception being Legolas of course). If these mistakes hadnt been written into the script then there would have been moretime for more relevant parts of the story such as including in more detail the fall of Saruman and of Ortanc as well as the paret concerning the palantir. Overall 3 stars but certainly nor far off 2.First film earned 5 stars from me and i can only hope that the 3rd film lives up to its billing and is as good as the first.
