This review is from: Elton John: The Captain and the Kid (Sheet music)
The Captain and the Kid continued Elton John's resurgence in the 2000s. Its a fine album with quite a lot of good Piano parts for us amateurs to try and copy. This book of sheet music will certainly help you.
As with nearly all 'popular music' based sheet music there are compromises and simplifications. Overall it does a fine job of putting down in notation elements of Eltons Piano part (obviously), the bass lines and the melody. As always the chords are supplied. An example of a simplification is the intro to "Old 67", which I'm pretty sure is not how Elton plays it. He'd be playing octaves in his right hand, which isn't notated. On the plus side the Piano solo on "And the house fell down" looks like a pretty accurate transcription, well at least in the right hand. And that pretty much sums up the whole book - its good and not quite so good!
The book is 87 pages, and apart from having a larger version of the album cover on the front of the book there are no other photos or information in the book. Its just the sheet music to the 10 songs.
