Definitive Bill Brandt,
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
This review is from: Bill Brandt: Shadow and Light (Hardcover)
I bought this book as I wanted to study the great photographers whole catalogue of works, from beginnings to his last works. The book is well researched, with many tri-tone plates which I thought were fine, even if perhaps as one reviewer alluded to; they are warmer in tone than the prints I've seen in the flesh...particularly the great exhibition at the V&A many years ago.
What I found worked well in this book was the information about Brandt and his development as a photographer, his printing techniques and his work as published in various magazines. There is lots to savour here and for a really bargain price.
Perspective on Nudes may hold his most famous work and may well be another volume worth own but for anyone who wants an overview of his career, with plenty to look at and well written text to illuminate each section then this is worth buying.k

In case you still have the book at hand could you tell how many of Brandt's 'A Night in London' photos are included? That original collection of some 60+ photos from the 30s is not available and I'm trying to find out if any of the Brandt books have most of those.
