As a complete beginner, this book was recommended to me by an "old hand" at growing vegetables on allotments. I am following it faithfully with no problems - everything is set out so simply and I'm hoping for good results. The only addition which would be helpful to beginners is to know which vegetables can be bought as plants later in the season, as I'm not so confident about growing from seeds and I haven't much room for seed beds on my plot. There was a companion book - the Jotter - for recording your planting dates and varieties used but sadly this is now out of print. Anyone know where I can get one?

Ten years on.... I think what you were looking for is now available again. It's now called 'The Expert Vegetable Notebook' by D.G. Hessayon.
