The Good and the Bad,
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
This review is from: Tefal ActiFry AH900240 Low Fat Electric Fryer - 1.5 kg (Kitchen & Home)
Have been using this product now for nearly 5 months. I like to give something new a reasonable amount of time to get a good idea of it's performance.
My overall impression of the Actifry Family is fantastic. It really does do what it says. But and this is a big and expensive but. The machine is expensive to buy but does not have the build quality to last. Along with many other reviewers from earlier models my lid/cover has broken. Near the lugs it appears to have shattered for want of a better word and one of the lugs just broke off in the machine one day. I am horrified to see that a replacement lid is going to cost around £30 +. I will be contacting the seller of my product as in view of the short time I've been using it I would expect it to last an awful lot longer. Potentially and sadly, this could be my first and last Actifry.

Did they replace your lid for free? How long is the warranty, 2 years? Is it not covered and also the paddle?

Having complained to the retailer they replied that as it is a manufacturing fault I have to take it up with Tefal direct. Unfortunately this retailer doesn't seem very au fait with the Sale of Goods Act and since I've reminded them that it is 'their' responsibility to deal with it I have heard nothing.
I think the warranty is 12 months however any goods which break down within 6 months are hardly fit for purpose.
Don't get me wrong the product does what it says and does it very well. However I think it is overpriced and the build quality is very weak and inferior.

You are correct, it is the retailers responibility to deal with the manufacturer. If you are not getting a satisfactory resolution from them then your local Trading Standards may be able to help. The Trading Standards website has this number : 08454 04 05 06 on their help and advice page.

Well I've had a result from the retailer now. They have refunded me enough money to purchase a replacement lid, so good result. Let's hope the new one lasts a bit longer!

I bought the white 1-litre model of the Actifry a couple of years ago. Like you, I was pleased with it initially but within the 12-months warranty the lid broke, followed the the paddle stirrer. I contacted Tefal via their website and to be fair, Tefal replaced both faulty parts under the guarantee. However when the machine blew up 13-months after purchase I was not able to deal with Tefal because the 1-year guarantee had expired; so I contacted the retailer under the Sale of Goods Act. The retailer then replaced the machine free-of-charge.

Yes I am also very impressed with the machine and its variable uses, however I have misplaced my receipt and only have had the machine for 5 months and already have needed a new sealing ring and now a new handle at a cost of £40.00.
