Right where the first left off,
This review is from: Insurgent (Divergent Trilogy, Book 2) (Kindle Edition)
The second in the trilogy Insurgent picks up exactly where Divergent leaves us. Unlike Divergent that got 4 stars I gave Insurgent 5 stars as it was a better read. There is not as much action in this story although this does not leave it lacking in anyway. The story is more rounded and the characters developed further. One thing I did notice was at no time did Veronica Roth introduce the characters we had met in Divergent which reduces the chance of this book being a stand alone read, it really has to be read as part of the trilogy.
The story constantly twists and turns and you change your opinion on people as your read through. You end up second guessing yourself constantly about who is on what side, good or bad. Even as the book finishes I am unsure of who I can really trust and who I can't as we go into the third novel. This novel does have some religious connections but unlike other reviewers I do not feel that this spoils the story at all. To be honest you have to look for these references to find them.
I have to say as the story leads to a conclusion I was wondering what the big twist would be and I was not disappointed. I have to be honest I found the ending a little rushed and had I not read this book when the third had been released I think I would have been frustrated having to wait for the story to continue. This however, is not enough to put me off the book. I thoroughly enjoyed this read and am now restraining myself to read something else before reading the third.
