U2 are still the best but this DVD isn't,
This review is from: U2 - 2005 Vertigo - Live From Chicago (Deluxe Edition) [DVD] (DVD)
On the documentary that comes with this DVD the Director of the gig, Hamish Hamilton, is full of energy as he describes how wonderful it is to film a U2 show and how he wants to recreate the energy the thousands of audience members feel watching for the people who have bought this DVD.
Nice words but shame it didn't work as this isn't the best example of how great U2 are live. The best comparison is with the Elevation tour DVD, also directed by the same man. It's ful of energy and life and vibrancy and you can actually see the audience, feel like you're in the arena watching the show.
As for the Vertigo DVD, I still don't know whether the venue was indoors or outdoors, the camera spends most of the time on these eratic close ups which shake all over the place. As for the audience, well you'll hardly know they are there.
