The best tennis game yet?,
This review is from: EA Sports Grand Slam Tennis (Wii) (Video Game)
All tennis titles have had their foibles but few, if any, have sustained the momentum promised by their first release. Grand Slam Tennis is unique in that it tries to emulate the real game as close as it is possible by being one of the first tennis games to use motion control. And that is what makes this an incredibly satisfying game to play. The positives are that you can, with sufficient practice, and a little patience, master the various strokes which bring joy to the whole gaming experience. At first it is a little frustrating, but after an hour or so you really can start to win games convincingly, so be patient as it quickly pays off. The Gram Slam mode is easily accessible and allows you to gain skills by beating legendary players; a lot more straight forward than it sounds.
The graphics, although cartoony, are excellent compared to other tennis releases. The main down side is a lack of competitions and the repetitive commentary. You do have the four Grand Slam events all present, with full licenses, but the addition of more ATP tour and other non Grand Slam competitions would have ensured more longevity for the game. However, overall this is a must buy for tennis fans, especially those who have dabbled in the real game. In my humble opinion the best tennis title yet.
