Promising start, but I got bored with the silliness...,

I really thought I was going to like this book when I began reading the first few chapters. It seemed humorous and observant, but I got so bored that I just couldn't be bothered finishing it. For me, personally, the endless "meetings" and "adventures" with so many world leaders, just became ridiculous and went into far too much boring detail. I found that I wasn't actually taking in what was written as I'd become so fed up with it by then. I don't usually give up on a book, and will see it through even if I don't think it's particularly gripping, but this one was the exception. Sorry, but I can't recommend this one...

Totally agree. Funny to begin with but then just got boring. Didn't finish the book.

Glad you feel the same, as my husband enjoyed the book, but I guess we all like different things. Thanks anyway...

Thanks for your comment. Nice to know at least some of my opinions are shared by other people. Sometimes you can feel a bit of an idiot if you say you dislike something that so many others seem to enjoy. Each to his own I suppose...

I think I have to agree with S J Taylor - it is boring & silly & so far I don't like it all. I only started reading it yesterday & don't like to give up without finishing, but I'm really disappointed in this book. I find I am just unable to engage with the story & cannot get into - such a shame as I had high hopes due to all the rave reviews for it. After reading these comments I won't bother trying to persevere with it in the hope that it will get better as it seems it won't!

Oh, thank god I'm also not alone! More people like me! I too got bored very quickly; the characters, plot...everything really. I gave up on this because I couldn't give a damn. What's amazing is that my partner loved it and recommended it to me. Gulp. I've avoided discussing it with her in case it means we're completely incompatible!
