Twisted and twisty,
This review is from: Wild Things [VHS] (VHS Tape)
This is another recent reworking of an idea thats as old as film. This is a twisty thriller, you know the kind where you're never quite sure who is working with who, who is trying to get what, who's dead who's alive. Nothing is certain kind of film. However, despite this formula, its a cracking film. It starts with the rich girl accusing the poor teacher of rape. It then spirals into doubt, secret alliances, backhand deals, lies, cheats. The characters are not much more than cardboard cut-outs. but the actors, for the most part breathe as much life as they can into them.
What is particularly refreshing is the fatc that this film airs some actors who have been mothballed for some time. Bill Murray (playing the first role where I didn't want to kill him) plays the accused lawyer. Kevin "Tremors" Bacon plays the detective who has to work out what the hell is going on.
The real genious here comes after you know everything. Over the closing titles, you see the scenes that would have given the plot away; the murder, the planting of eveidence. Its a little feature that is a winner.
All in All, not the best film but definitely worth a watch
