Do not buy - badly designed,
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
This review is from: HP Officejet 4500 Wireless All-in-One Printer (Print, Scan, Copy, Fax) (Electronics)
I regret the day I bought this printer!
It has so many paper-feeding faults that I barely know where to start. Most, I suspect, are due to the fact that it 'front-loads' the paper rather than having a feeder that partly relies on 'gravity'.
Some examples are:- 1. it regularly mis-feeds paper by pulling a 2nd piece in whilst already printing, so documents are printed half on one piece and half on another, so 2.I resorted to feeding each page in individually (what a time-waster) but even that isn't foolproof - if you don't feed the paper in at exactly the right time, it half-feeds it in then it stays in the machine, not printing but says 'printing' on the display! or 3. it skews the paper going into the machine and the printing is not straight when it comes out!! This has just happened to me TWICE, which is why I've been so enraged to finally write this review.
Another issue is that the printed sheets come out on top of the paper tray making it an absolute pain if you are manually feeding the paper into the machine.
Yet another issue is if you want to do double-sided printing because the printed sheet comes out in such a way that you have to turn the piece of paper round before feeding it back in to get the second side printed, but do not not turn it over as well(which was my natural reaction initially) otherwise it prints over the top - not intuative at all!!
And the final issue is: to clear the (numerous) paper jams involves getting access to the recessed area at the back of the machine at the bottom - it is probably the most in-accessible part of the machine!! and, because it is recessed and all the plastic is black, you cannot see what you are doing to remove the back cover, clear the jam and replace the back cover unless you have very good light.
I am careful with my use of inks and paper and cannot count the number of pages of part-printed, mis-printed, or jammed and damaged pieces of paper that this machine has wasted for me. I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND THIS MACHINE.
