3.0 out of 5 stars Pretty Good but..., 19 May 2014

This review is from: Apple Mac Mini (Quad-Core i7 2.3GHz Processor, 4GB DDR3 SDRAM, 1TB, HD Graphics, Launched Oct 2012) (Personal Computers)
Everything about this Mac mini is pretty tasty, apart from the memory. Being a Quad-Core, you'd be forgiven if like most people you thought you'd be enjoying a high-end performance platform for using apps, watching videos and most other general tasks. However, this model sadly lacks all that, and that's almost entirely down to its measly 4GBs of RAM. It's not too dissimilar to buying a Ford Fiesta and then putting a Ford Mustang shell over it! Of course this is probably just another Apple technique of getting as much money out of you as possible, because I'm now going to splash out on a memory upgrade. Bad times :o(

Good posting - What is the cost of upgrading to 8 gb?

coolhand says:
via apple around 100 bucks, but for pre-2014 mac minis you can buy an upgrade for far less right here on amazon and swap it out.

Thanks for advice. I have just bought in auction a pre 2014 Mac Mini with only 4gb - will upgrade as you say. I decided against the new 2014 mac mini - they have dropped the firewire port and there is no obvious quad core i7 . Plus little chance to upgrade the new models.
Is Apple planning to drop the conventional computer in favour of the Tablets? (more profitable?)
