A good improvement to 1st gen,
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
This review is from: Apple iPod touch 16GB - 2nd Generation (Electronics)
I used to have an iPod Touch 1st gen before selling it to a friend shortly after the 2nd gen came out. However I'v finally decided to buy the 2nd gen touch now, after being "ipodless" for nearly half a year. The iPod Touch 2G is a vast improvement physically, with a nice curvier design which feels snug in your hand, a lot lighter than the 1G, a more attractive chrome rim around the screen, added internal speakers and volume controls. However the speakers aren't very good for listening to music for a long time as the audio quality is very average, but they are great for playing games and watching videos with friends around. However the audio is a lot better through headphones, but I recommend getting better quality headphones. Software wise, it is very similar to the 1G, but is apparantly supposed to have a faster processor or something, but I'm not sure of this. The apps are great for time wasting, e.g. sitting in a restaurant waiting for your meal, but playing for too long can cause strain on your eyes. I just wanted to conclude quickly as I have to go to sleep now, that if you already own a 1G ipod touch, and you are a very style conscious person or you are very rich, then I recommend upgrading... But even though the 2G is an improvement, I don't really see any other reason why you would want to upgrade. Maybe you should wait for iPod Touch 3G which should have more features built in e.g. bluetooth, GPS, graphics like the PSP, unscratchable back... But I really doubt it will.
Oh yea just to add, I bought the iPod along with the Invisible Shield, which is a very thin layer of military grade protective film to protect your device from scratches (making your Touch worth more for longer). It's easy to apply (well if you get the hang of it after multiple attempts), and at just under £10, it's quite a good investment for a device worth over £200. The shield does not ruin the look of your iPod at all, unlike all those fat "crystal clear" cases out there, which are just plain ugly. I also recommend the Exspect silicone skin, if you are someone who travels a lot with your ipod, to protect it from knocks and bumps.
Well I hope that helped.
