A useful and interesting collection of sail trim articles,
This review is from: The Best of "Sail" Trim (Paperback)
This collection of articles from SAIL magazine was first published in 1975 and must be on its tenth printing by now ( I have the sixth from 1985 ). The number of reprints is testimony to its quality and popularity. The subjects range from the usual main and genoa trim articles to a series of very interesting and scientific articles by Arvel Gentry expalining the physics of sail performance.
In general the articles are far more detailed and refer more frequently to scientific aerodynamic principles than does the more recent SAIL collection " The New Book of Sail Trim ". This may reflect the time in which it was written for an audience more willing to get stuck into the details of aerodynamics and physics than today's breed of sailors.
There are a total of 55 articles in this collection all of which are well worth reading.
