Very good but the sex was irrelevant.,
This review is from: Hattie [DVD] (DVD)I really enjoyed this and Ruth Jones was excellent in it and after a while I did think Robert was John, I just don't think the sex scenes were needed, I am in no way a prude and we all know Hattie had affairs but the story would have been better without the seediness.

The sex scenes were NOT gratuitous, but an essential part of the character, showing us how it may feel be found so desirable when you are morbidly obese and not used to arousing passion.
We were being shown how she was ready to risk everything for this heady, exciting , unfamiliar feeling.

Ms. R. D. Brown says:
Whether or not that was the intention it was still unecessary, the story could have told without it.

Kevin 'Bionic' Jones says:
Eric Sykes was disgusted by this film. I too thought it a poor tribute to a much-loved comedy star. Hattie should be allowed to rest in peace and not be made the subject of 'News Of The World' style muckraking.
