5.0 out of 5 stars I love this radio., 11 April 2012
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
This review is from: Sony Pocket Size Portable Am/Fm Radio With Built-In Speaker (Electronics)
Buy this(ICFS10MK2)rather than Sony's other one(ICFS22). The ICFS22 is a bit heavier and bulky and has a slightly strange wedge shape. This(ICFS10MK2) is a beautifully designed classic transistor radio. Edit: I bought this radio when I reviewed it in April 2012. The radio cost me £10ish at the time. It is now 16/05/2012 as I write this. I still think it is five star radio and I still love it. Although I am pretty sure that I would not pay £18 for it.
Transistor Radio lovers should also know that the UK government is intending to switch over from analogue to digital radio sometime after 2015. Therefore ANY and EVERY analogue radio will become obsolete.
At the moment digital radios are a lot more expensive than analogue, they eat batteries, are only comparabe in sound quality to FM radio and have reception problems. DAB is old technology and has been superceeded by DAB+. The two systems are not compatible. Your DAB radio is out of date already. The Germans have already given up on having a Digital Switchover. Stephen Fry and David Mitchell should be ashamed of themselves for promoting DAB. If you really want a choice of loads and loads of radio stations then internet radio is the way forward. The whole digital switch over idea should be stopped in its tracks, NOW.

You have just made up my mind for me. I had a Sony ICF-S22 but I hate the wedge shape of some of the Sony radios. Also I found the ICF-S22 to be a bit deaf, but that is not a problem anymore since my pet squirrel got his paws on it and demolished it with his rodent teeth. So an ICF-S10MK2 it is!!!!!:)

By the way, I totally agree with your comments on DAB - It's rubbish.

i totally agree , DAB aint all it was cracked up to be , give me FM anyday its a clear sound and very portable . it'll be a crime and a step backward to do away with FM .
