Marxism meets mind-blowing music,
This review is from: Entertainment (Audio CD)Proving that politics can also make you shake your booty, Gang of Four's debut is one of those albums that drives you crazy from the instant you hear it. White boy funk mixed with punk rock, with a little dub and abstract feedback compositions thrown in ("Anthrax"), `Entertainment' isn't something you hear everyday. I mean, sure, the Red Hot Chili Peppers might sound like that, but they aren't fit to lick Andy Gill's boots.
Gang of Four's music is fierce and their message is harsh, but boy, do we love dancing to it. Bands like Rage against the Machine and the Minutemen were obviously influenced by everything Gang of Four did back then.
A marvelous album.
