great bang for your buck,
I have been running a AT91 in my rega 3 for years.
I`ve used the trusty AT91 in all manner of decks from the 80`s and always loved it.
Yes, I had heard other very pricey cartridges, but it sounded fine to me.
I recently had cause to change the cartridge on my sons turntable, and thought I`d give him my AT91 as it hadnt had many hours use, and get the well regarded AT95.
I have bought quite a lot of new heavyweight vinyl in the past couple of years, especially new releases by Tonefloat from Porcupine Tree an Bass communion along with vinyl from EF, PG Lost, Sigur Ros and Lockerbie.
The difference in the sound is remarkable.
Its quite bright , but I like that, but bass is far more dynamic and the Vinyl really does sound much better than the CD equivalents.
If you are looking to upgrade your cartridge on a new deck with a starter cartridge or breath new life into that old turntable that has been gathering dust, I`d highly recommend it.
Lots of people are getting back into vinyl buying DJ turntables ( a great idea as they can be excellent VFM and are built like tanks) , but the cartridges arent best suited for hi-fi use.
Stick one of these in your DJ deck , if you are using it with a separates system, and be amazed at the instant upgrade.
