I received this from Amazon yesterday and played it last night. This is one of the best Christmas DVDs I have ever watched. It is 2 hours long and there are 26 Christmas songs, some filmed outdoors and some, the more religious ones, performed inside a traditional church. There are also a few new-to-me songs which you don't usually get to hear in the UK. The songs are performed by full orchestra and vocalists introduced and conducted by Andre Rieux with his usual semi-serious/semi-jocular line of banter and he gives us some anecdotes about his life as well.It's quite schmaltzy with lots of pretend snow, girls in old-fashioned evening gowns and children playing enthusiastically but it's appropriate for the Season. The outdoor locations including Andre's home and garden are really lovely and the little church in Maastricht is beautiful. The children seem to be genuinely happy and of course the music is wonderful. I didn't like the part where a young ballerina flies through the air on some kind of wire (why do they bother with this kind of nonsense?)but it might appeal to some and it's the only thing I could find to criticise. The DVD is still deserving of five stars plus. Get cosy, watch this with or without a glass of mulled wine and a mince pie and you'll be transported to a very happy place for 2 hours.
