4.0 out of 5 stars Work OK, but Spear & Jackson do offer a superior version, 4 May 2014
This review is from: Spear & Jackson Razorsharp Steel Lawn Shears (Garden & Outdoors)
These shears work fine - but it's worth noting that Spear & Jackson offer another, very similar model of lawn shear that is easier and lighter to use. Confusingly, it's called by the almost identical name of 'Spear & Jackson Razor Sharp Lawn Shears'. The difference is the missing word 'Steel'. The superior version is considerably lighter in weight, and has longer handles (36 inches vs 32 inches for the steel version). The handles are made of aluminium, which doesn't rust, and the blades are coated with PTFE (the same stuff that coats non-stick frying pans - Polytetrafluoroethylene), which means that cutting takes less effort. At the time of writing this review, the aluminium shears cost around £6 more than the steel shears - IMHO, they are worth every penny, especially if, like me, you're on the tall side.

I thought this review was for 'Spear & Jackson Razor Sharp Steel Lawn Shears'.
Puzzled

Hi Jani.k - I'm sorry to hear that my review confused you. I've re-worded it slightly, and that hope it now makes sense to you. The review does indeed refer to 'Spear and Jackson Razor Sharp STEEEL Lawn Shears' - I've tried both these shears and the 'Spear and Jackson Razor Sharp Lawn Shears'. My review was meant to explain to prospective buyers that the STEEL shears work OK, but that some people might prefer the aluminium shears, which are lighter and have longer handles.

Regards,

Jan
