A little treasure of pleasure.,
This review is from: Octane Twisted [Jewel Case With Slipcase] (Audio CD)
I have most of the previous Porcupine Tree live releases and this is up there with "Coma Divine" and the XL Sessions CD's. Sure the sound may be not as dynamic as previous live albums, but it is not dull sounding and is far, far superior to bootleg quality. The mix may get heavy at times and the drums may get lost a little, but generally Gavin Harrison's drums are clear and a joy to listen to.
The first CD is the incident concept piece and like it's studio counterpart, the 56+ minute tracks starts well, gets very bitty in the middle and after "Time Flies" finishes with a blinder. "I Drive the Hearse" is so much better than the studio version.
For me, disc two is the meat of the product and will probably get played more than disc one. Only three of the tracks here have been released on previous live albums and "Stars Die" gets a first full band live airing on a live album and is very welcome.
The set may not be the best live album ever released, but it is a welcome release and as mentioned previously here it is a stop-gap due to other music interests being taken up. If you are a fan of the Tree, you will probably get this. If you're not, it is a worthy investment
