This review is from: Seconds Out [VINYL] (Vinyl)
....and, oh my goodness, so is the music. For clarification this review refers to the 180gm vinyl reissue of Seconds Out released Nov 2012. Reviews elsewhere will inform you about the music, but this focuses entirely on the reissue itself. My aging copy of this album has been a reference through many years, turntables, amplifiers and speakers. From the moment the needle hits vinyl you realise how much has been missing. I could bang on about deeper bass, clarity and separation of instruments and voices, but if you are reading this, love the album, have a halfway decent turntable based hi-fi system, and are wondering if it was worth the £25-30 or possibly more then the answer is an unequivocal yes.

Good review. You are absolutely right in what you say about having a decent turntable based hi-fi which will really bring out the best in the superior re-issue vinyl. Unfortunately the Charisma record label didn't do justice to the original vinyl pressings of Genesis albums, as they often suffered from a lot of hiss and background noise.
Finally, if you are considering purchasing a second hand copy of the 2012 re-issue beware, as a number of people are selling the original 1977 vinyl under the banner of the 2012 re-issue. Amazon have been notified of this.
