Beautiful and haunting,
This review is from: Solo Piano Works (Audio CD)
This is Carolyn Hume's first major solo piano work, after years of collaboration with percussionist Paul May.
Her distinctive style is still apparent throughout - beautiful haunting, reflective, introverted. Only more exaggerated by the abscence of percussion.
Every track is slow and thoughtful - and evocative of wide, open, and for me, cold and wintery landscapes. But the inner landscape of the mind this evokes is one of warmth and richness hewn out of loss and distress.
Hume is a little known musician of great talent - if you give this a go and like it, you've got a great back catalogue to keep you going.
