greatest solo album from a drummer,
This review is from: Castle of Crime (Audio CD)
Dave's day job is drumming for one of most respectable altrock artists of the past 20 years - Ms Hersh and her Throwing Muses. It is thus obvious that his solo album should be different from all he does in for the boss. And it is a pleasant mostly instrumental music that is chill out for alternative types. Loaded with electronics but with Dave's (presumably live) drumming playing a prominent role the album corners on Jazz, rock, ambient. At times it reminds one of Lemonjelly, at times Orbital, long forgotten Wolfgan Press and even Yo La Tengo. While it is worth savouring while listening on your own, it might a great coffee table album it is OK to have for an alt-rocker.
