This review is from: The Wayward Muse: A Novel (Paperback)
As an avid reader of anything linked to the Pre-Raphaelite Brotherhood, I snapped up this book only to be disappointed by it. In terms of content, if you are looking for a light, entertaining read of the chick-lit genre then this is for you (in fact I'd be surprised if it hasn't featured in the 3 for 2 offers at airport bookstores). However, if you take a deep interest in the era and the PRB then steer clear. To be fair to the author, this has been marketed as fiction, not historical novel so there has been no intent to deceive. I was also deeply disappointed by the style. In addition to the irritating and incongruous Americanisms by this American author, the style is amateurish. I would expect better than school-leaver English from a purported professional author.
