Queen without the pomp and circumstance,
This review is from: Queen At The BBC (Audio CD)
Simply put, this is Queen laid bare. This is a surprisingly fresh sounding compilation of tracks recorded live for the BBC in the very early 70's, before Queen made the breakthru to commercial success. Queen were, in their early years, constantly criticised for over producing and relying on studio gimmicks to make the songs work, 30 years later this CD raises a gracious 2 fingers at those critics and proves that beneath the "Queen Sound" was one of the finest rock and roll bands the world has ever and will ever see.
A must for Queen fans and an intersting insight into the bands early years, for those that aren't, definately worth a listen. Listen out especially for Doin Alright, more like Smiles original version, this is better than the version on Queens first studio album, worth the price alone!
